About the Department of Adult and Pediatric Dermatology, Phlebology and Allergology at Dermatology Center Nymphenburg Munich
The Department of Adult and Pediatric Dermatology, Phlebology and Allergology at the Dermatology Center Nymphenburg Munich provides the full range of medical services in the areas of its competence. The department performs conservative and surgical treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, nails, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. The medical facility's specialists also successfully treat varicose veins using sparing, minimally traumatic procedures. The department has well-developed areas of laser and aesthetic dermatology. In addition, consultations and treatment for young patients with dermatological diseases are provided here. The Department of Dermatology pays special attention to the prevention and treatment of skin cancer, given the high prevalence of this disease in the world. To ensure effective diagnosis and treatment, the department is equipped with a modern operating room, comfortable diagnostic rooms, and laser therapy rooms. All procedures, including surgical and laser interventions, are performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, which allows patients to avoid pain and discomfort. The department's specialists strictly follow the recommendations of the German Dermatological Society (DDG), guaranteeing high-quality medical care and compliance with international standards. Thanks to an integrated approach and the use of advanced technologies, the department successfully solves a wide range of dermatological problems, paying attention to early diagnosis and effective treatment of skin cancer. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Dietrich Abeck.
The main focus of the dermatology team is the treatment of skin cancer. Great importance is also attached to cancer screening, as the patient has a high chance of recovery if a malignant tumor is detected in time. Screening includes clinical examination and testing with the help of artificial intelligence devices that allow doctors to analyze the structure of moles, birthmarks, and pigmented areas of the skin with suspicious changes. The diagnostic examination is absolutely painless. If benign or malignant skin tumors are detected, surgical removal is usually required. To remove small tumors, the department's specialists often use modern minimally invasive methods, such as laser technologies or cryotherapy. During skin tumor resection surgery, the department's dermatologists strive not only to completely remove the tumor, but also to ensure optimal aesthetic outcomes, especially when the tumor is localized on the face or neck. Special subcutaneous suturing techniques are used to minimize the risk of visible scarring. All skin tumor removal procedures are performed under local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety during the intervention.
The department has the latest generation of laser equipment, which is used to treat a wide range of skin diseases. Specialists in the medical facility work with innovative ruby and diode lasers, Er:YAG laser, IDAS laser system and Fox laser. A ruby laser is used to remove pigment spots and benign skin tumors, a diode laser is used for laser hair removal, the Er:YAG laser is used to remove benign skin tumors (seborrheic keratosis, fibromas, xanthelasmas, syringomas, and nevi) and precancerous conditions (for example, actinic keratosis), the IDAS laser is used to remove rosacea, hemangiomas, angiomas, and spider nevi, and the Fox laser is used to treat onychomycosis (nail fungus). In most cases, laser treatment is done without anesthesia. The duration and intensity of the course of therapy are determined by the attending physician, depending on the specific dermatological problem.
An important focus of work for the department's medical team is aesthetic dermatology. This area offers many effective anti-aging treatments, including Botox, hyaluronic acid, and Radiesse injections, mesotherapy, microneedling, and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections. The department also offers surgical rejuvenation procedures, the most popular of which are blepharoplasty, liquid facelift, thread lift, body contouring, injection lipolysis, and liposuction. Before prescribing any aesthetic procedure, specialized dermatologists with extensive experience in this field conduct a personal consultation, during which they are interested in the patient's wishes, assess the condition of the skin, and offer the most suitable rejuvenation options.
The department offers comprehensive treatment of varicose veins using internationally recognized, highly effective techniques such as sclerotherapy, mini-phlebectomy, and endoluminal laser therapy. Interventional treatment for varicose veins is usually combined with compression therapy to achieve the best results. All procedures are performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, thereby ensuring safety, comfort, and rapid recovery for patients.
