Dr. med. Andrej Bitter is the Head Physician of the Department of Spinal Surgery at the Hospital Neuwerk Moenchengladbach, which is part of the specialized Center for Musculoskeletal Diseases.
Dr. Bitter graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University. Already during his studies, he worked as a freelance and full-time massage therapist, specializing in spinal diseases. After graduating from the university, he began working as a neurologist and a manual therapist in Cheboksary (Russia). In 2003, he started working at the Mibeg-Institut Medicine in Cologne (Germany).
In 2009, Dr. Bitter was board certified in neurosurgery (Duisburg Hospital, Germany), and in 2011, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the following subject: "Advantages of the pterional approach for meningioma removal" (University of Essen). After working as a Senior Physician at the Evangelical Hospital Bethel Bielefeld and the Sana Hospital Duisburg, Dr. Bitter took up the position of Head Physician of the Department of Spinal Surgery at the Hospital Neuwerk Moenchengladbach in 2013.
Dr. Bitter not only brilliantly performs neurosurgical interventions and spinal surgery but also has professional skills in the field of conservative treatment of spinal diseases. He knows exactly when a patient needs surgery and when surgery can be avoided. When performing operations, the doctor uses an O-Arm intraoperative imaging device, a ZEISS operating microscope, and other state-of-the-art equipment.
Dr. Bitter has a master's certificate from the German Society for Spine Surgery (DWG) and is a member of the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC), the German Society for Spine Surgery (DWG), and the International Society for Spine Surgery (AO Spine).
