About the Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders at Hospital Neuwerk Moenchengladbach
The Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders at the Hospital Neuwerk Moenchengladbach specializes in providing top-class medical care to patients with musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. The center's team is also competent in treating spinal disorders, including performing image-guided interventional pain management procedures for chronic back pain. The center has all modern medical and technical resources for conservative and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal pathologies. A large team of highly specialized physicians with long clinical experience works with patients. Each patient receives treatment according to an individual regimen, while doctors strive to provide the most sparing therapy as possible. The Head Physician of the center is Dr. med. Patrick Weidle.
The center regularly treats patients with orthopedic conditions affecting joints, tendons, muscles, and skeletal bones. Of particular interest to physicians in this area are knee, hip, and shoulder joint replacement surgery, which is performed at the Maximum Care Arthroplasty Centre. Joint replacement surgery is indicated for patients with advanced osteoarthritis who do not respond well to conservative therapy. Orthopedists at the center perform arthroplasty with the help of sparing minimally invasive techniques, thanks to which the patient's verticalization and restoration of mobility are achieved much faster as compared to classic open surgery. Moreover, the center successfully implements the Rapid Recovery program for post-joint replacement surgery rehabilitation: orthopedists and physiotherapists develop an optimal complex of physical exercises aimed at rapid recovery of mobility following surgery.
The center's team of trauma surgeons provides round-the-clock care to patients with bone fractures and their complications. The specialists also have excellent professional qualifications in the treatment of multiple injuries. Patients often receive conservative treatment with plaster casts, but complex fractures usually require surgery, during which bone fragments are fixed with plates, nails, screws, and other devices, followed by immobilization of the damaged body part for proper bone fusion.
An integral part of the work of the center's doctors is the treatment of spinal disorders. Spinal surgeons excellently perform operations for spinal disc herniations, spinal canal stenosis, vertebral fractures, vertebral dislocations, scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal tumors, and other pathologies. The operating rooms at the center have state-of-the-art equipment for minimally invasive and endoscopic spinal interventions. Spinal surgeons are proud to work at the intraoperative neuronavigation system O-Arm, as it is available in a limited number of European medical centers. This device ensures not only the high efficiency of surgical treatment but also the maximum safety of the manipulations performed. When performing spine surgery, the center's specialists also use advanced operating microscopes.
Another therapeutic offer at the center is CT-guided interventional pain management for chronic back pain. The essence of the treatment involves the image-guided injection of an individually selected dose of painkillers directly into the pathological focus. The specialists at the center resort to this type of therapy in cases where oral intake of painkillers does not provide pain relief. Multimodal treatment programs for chronic back pain are also available here, combining drug therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic exercises, massage, and other procedures.
The center's main clinical focuses include:
- Knee, hip and shoulder arthroplasty
- Arthroscopic interventions on the knee, hip, and shoulder joints
- Conservative and surgical treatment of fractures of any complexity, including multiple fractures, in adults and children
- Minimally invasive, microsurgical, and endoscopic spinal surgery, including revision interventions for patients with failed back surgery syndrome
- Image-guided interventional pain management for chronic back pain
- Multimodal therapy for chronic back pain
- Other medical services
