About the department
The Department of Dermatology at the Academic Hospital Nuremberg offers the full range of modern diagnostics and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. Of particular interest to the department's medical team is the treatment of skin malignancies, inflammatory skin diseases and chronic wounds. The department's tasks also include the diagnostics and treatment of skin allergic reactions. The department employs highly qualified specialists in the field of dermatosurgery and laser therapy. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Erwin Schultz.
The department successfully applies the very latest techniques of surgical dermatology, particularly, it performs plastic surgeries with the transposition of skin flaps, transplantation of free grafts, removal of sentinel lymph nodes in the case of malignant melanoma, removal of the surface layers of the skin (dermabrasion, laser ablation), etc.
The department's range of medical services includes:
- Surgical interventions on the skin and subcutaneous fat (including outpatient surgery) for skin tumors, as well as plastic surgery to correct defects after tumor removal (especially on the face)
- Diagnostics and treatment of skin cancer (also within the international clinical trials)
- Special surgical treatment methods for tumors (for example, removal of sentinel lymph nodes)
- Diagnostics and treatment of eczema (for example, neurodermatitis/contact or occupational eczema), including photo- and balneotherapy
- Diagnostics and treatment of psoriasis
