  • Prof. Meyers (*1962) Forschungsgebiete sind im Bereich der vaskulären, onkologischen und spinalen Neurochirurgie.
  • Prof. Meyer studierte an den Universitäten Padua/Italien, Erlangen-Nürnberg Humanmedizin mit Auslandsaufenthalten an der Northwestern University, Chicago sowie der State University of New York, Brooklyn. 
  • Staatsexamen und Promotion folgten am Institut für Humangenetik der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg im Jahre 1989 mit anschließender Ausbildung zum Neurochirurgen in Tübingen, Duisburg, Bonn mit Auslandsaufenthalten in Zürich/CH und Phönix AZ/USA. 
  • 1995 wurde Prof. Meyer Facharzt für Neurochirurgie und Oberarzt an der Neurochirurgischen Universitätsklinik Bonn, wo er 1999 habilitierte und 2001 auf die Professur für Neurochirurgie berufen wurde. 
  • Seit 2006 hat Prof. Meyer den Lehrstuhl für Neurochirurgie der Technischen Universität München inne.

About the department keyboard_arrow_down

The Department of Neurosurgery at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar is a part of the newly established “Neuro-Kopf-Zentrum” since March 2007. The Department offers a comprehensive neurosurgical spectrum of health services which focuses on the vascular neurosurgery, skull base surgery, pituitary surgery, neuro-oncology and spinal column surgery. The Department of Neurosurgery at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar is headed by the director, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bernhard Meyer, since March 2006 and is a part of the newly established “Neuro-Kopf-Zentrum” since March 2007.

As a result of these recent changes and the merging of the main neurosurgical specialist sections, the spectrum of health services provided by the range of participating departments, and thereby of the neuro-surgery, has changed significantly. The number of outpatient and inpatient treatments of patients has increased drastically, as well as the clinical and surgical specialties have been significantly expanded. The successful infrastructure for the interdisciplinary treatment, established at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar, has been transferred and adopted in the Department of Neurology headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bernhard Meyer.
