The Department of Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Adult and Pediatric Hematology, Stem Cell Transplantation at the Medipol Mega University Hospital in Istanbul offers diagnostics and comprehensive treatment of the full range of oncological diseases, as well as benign and malignant blood diseases. The department is an interdisciplinary center, which treats patients with all types of tumors. The department specializes in the treatment of lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, esophageal cancer, melanomas, sarcomas, head and neck, brain and neuroendocrine tumors. The Chief Physician of the department is Prof. Deniz Sargin.

The department ranks among the leading Cancer Centers for adults and children in Turkey. All the very latest treatments are available for cancer treatment, including radiation therapy, chemo-, hormone and targeted therapy. For the treatment of certain diseases, for example, neuroblastoma, radioactive iodine therapy (MIBG therapy) is successfully applied in cooperation with the Department of Nuclear Medicine. Thanks to the interdisciplinary approach, long experience of the medical team and use of the advanced methods (intraoperative radiation, targeted therapy, etc.), the department boasts very high treatment efficiency rates.

The service range in hematology includes all benign (for example, iron deficiency anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, folic acid deficiency) and all malignant blood diseases (for example, acute and chronic leukemia, multiple myeloma, lymphomas, etc). The diagnostics of blood diseases is conducted with the use of the very latest methods. These include cytogenetic study of bone marrow and blood cells, various types of lymph node and organ biopsy, etc.

In addition, the department is a recognized Bone Marrow Transplantation Center. The transplantation is performed in such diseases as multiple myeloma, lymphoma (lymph node cancer), acute leukemia (blood cancer), etc. The department incorporates the specialized Pediatric Center for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. The indications for the treatment in the Pediatric Center are diseases, such as leukemia, lymphoma and other hard-to-cure cancer types, congenital or acquired blood diseases (for example, Mediterranean anemia), congenital or acquired bone marrow diseases (for example, aplastic anemia), etc.
