The primary clinical focus of the department's endocrinologists is the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, as well as other types of diabetes mellitus and endocrinopathies. The department houses two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories where numerous effective diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures are performed. The department also widely uses drug therapy with pills, infusions, and injections. The medical team, consisting of 32 staff members, takes care of the health of patients. The specialists are always open to dialog with their patients, striving to take into account their individual needs and wishes. In 2021, a new building for the Section of Cardiology was put into operation. It is designed in accordance with the "Cardiology of the Future'' concept, which means that the very latest technologies and concepts of medical care for patients with heart disease are implemented here.

The Department of Cardiology provides the full range of medical services for the prevention, diagnostics and conservative treatment of cardiovascular diseases. After studying the results of diagnostic examinations, the department's cardiologists elaborate an individual treatment regimen for the patient, which is usually based on drug therapy, and is also supplemented with diet therapy and dosed physical activities. The department's medical team also pays attention to preventive diagnostic examinations, which allow doctors to timely detect the risks of developing cardiac pathology and effectively eliminate them. All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are carried out in accordance with the current recommendations of the German Cardiac Society. Whenever required, the specialists from related medical fields may be involved in the diagnostics and treatment.

The Department of Cardiology specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The department has its own laboratory for basic tests. The therapeutic capabilities of the medical facility include drug therapy and interventional catheter-based procedures with a special emphasis on percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with stenting. The physicians of the department are guided by current clinical protocols and adhere to the recommendations of the German Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology.
