The Department of Hematology and Hematologic Oncology at Rambam Health Care Campus, led by Dr. Benjamin Brenner, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant hematological disorders. The Department includes multidisciplinary labs and the Blood Bank thus providing all conditions to ensure a successful comprehensive treatment of blood diseases of different severity. The Department also ranks among the leading centers of Israel specializing in the treatment of leukemia.
The Department of Hematology and Hematologic Oncology at Rambam Health Care Campus has the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit with 15 beds in the state-of-the-art patient rooms with intensive care equipment. The Unit offers the following types of bone marrow transplantation: autotransplantation, isogenic transplantation, allotransplantation and haploidentical transplantation. All the above-mentioned transplantations are carried out in accordance with the highest international standards. In addition, the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit offers the preparation, follow-up care and management of complications after bone marrow transplantation.
The Department of Hematology and Hematologic Oncology under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Brenner also has the Inpatient Hematology Unit offering chemotherapy and treatment for malignant and benign hematological diseases and the Outpatient Hematology Clinic providing consultations, chemotherapy, transfusions and other therapeutic procedures.
The Hematology Laboratory at Rambam has received ISO 9001:2000 certificate for excellent quality management standards. Furthermore, the Department houses the Stem Cell Laboratory, which is fully equipped for processing and cryopreservation of bone marrow and stem cell transplants, therapy procedures, immunophenotype analysis and cell separation.
The Department of Hematology and Hematologic Oncology at Rambam Health Care Campus is actively involved in the research of immunology and tumor vaccines, leukemia genetics and therapy, thrombosis and cancer interaction, vascular complications in pregnancy, as well as the role of cellular microparticles in health and disease.
