The department of Neurology deals with diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system and muscle diseases. These include diseases such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and epilepsy, as well as herniated discs or spinal cord diseases. Stroke patients are treated mainly on the nationally certified stroke unit.

The Department of Neurological Early Rehabilitation is able to take care of patients severely suffering from acute diseases such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, inflammation of the central nervous system and lack of oxygen due to cardiovascular-failure.

Counseling and prevention are also major tasks. And the contact with the self-help groups is also very important for the department.
