In addition, the spectrum is complemented by prenatal and perinatal medicine, which deal with the treatment of diseases in mother and child before and after childbirth. The department has state-of-the-art technical equipment for high-precision diagnostics, progressive operating rooms and comfortable delivery rooms, which allows to provide top-class medical service of the international standard. The department is headed by Dr. med. Mahdis Najafpour.
The department's gynecologists are highly professional and have extensive experience in the treatment of various diseases of the female genital area. The key focuses of the clinical practice include the treatment of cancers of the female reproductive organs, female urinary incontinence, benign and malignant mammary gland pathologies, treatment of cervical dysplasia. The treatment methods range from drug therapy to complex surgical interventions. When treating cancers, surgery can often be complemented by hormone therapy and chemotherapy. Due to the availability of innovative treatments, the department widely uses minimally invasive surgical interventions, which ensure the patient's speedy recovery. In addition, the department practices outpatient surgery.
One of the common gynecological problems in women is urinary incontinence and pelvic prolapse. The diagnostics of urinary incontinence includes such examinations as ultrasound, cystoscopy and urodynamic examinations. The purpose of follow-up therapy is the elimination of complaints related to urinary incontinence and pelvic floor weakness, and thus the improvement of the quality of life for a women. To achieve the desired result, the doctors have both conservative methods (for example, strengthening of the pelvic floor by training bladder muscles and sphincter, drug therapy) and surgical techniques (in most cases minimally invasive operations).
The diagnostics and treatment of benign and malignant breast diseases are also among the key tasks of the department. The department's specialists have various examination techniques for the diagnostics of changes in breast tissue, nodular formations, inflammation of the skin and nipple or unclear pain. The breast malignancies are treated in accordance with international cancer treatment standards. There are widely used breast-preserving and reconstructive surgical procedures. With appropriate clinical indications, the patients can undergo plastic aesthetic interventions.
In addition, the department performs a large number of interventions on an outpatient basis. These include curettage for histological examination of pathologically altered tissues, hysteroscopy or laparoscopy (in the field of gynecology – pelviscopy) in the case of unclear pain in the abdomen and pelvis, as well as for the diagnostics of infertility causes.
If possible, the department's surgeons perform operations in using minimally invasive techniques. The removal of cysts, polyps and tumors of the uterus and vagina at the initial stages can be carried out sparingly, without a large abdominal incision and scars. The endoscopic techniques can be used even in large interventions, such as partial or total removal of the uterus, as well as the removal of large ovarian tumors.
To ensure integrated management of childbirth, safe delivery and follow-up care for mother and baby, the department employs a specially trained medical team comprised of obstetricians, general practitioners, specialized nursing staff, breastfeeding consultants and other experts. The doctors annually give birth to more than 600 babies in modern delivery rooms of the department.
Each delivery room is equipped with a bed, a maternity stool, a rope and a gymnastic ball. For natural stimulation of childbirth or pain relief during childbirth, the department offers homeopathy, acupuncture, aromatherapy, relaxation baths, special physical exercises and breathing gymnastics. The department also offers peridural anesthesia round-the-clock (at the request of the patient). The father of the child or another close person of the future mother may attend the childbirth. The patient is offered a round-the-clock Rooming In system after childbirth, which allows the mother to stay with her newborn baby all the time.
