Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (80)
Specialized in: oral and maxillofacial surgery
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Marburg UKGM, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Neff, offers the entire spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the university level ranging from outpatient dentoalveolar (dental) surgery and implantology (Section of Oral Surgery and Implantology) up to complex inpatient interventions in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Among the key focuses of the department is diagnosis and treatment of tumors in the oral and maxillofacial area. There are performed complex tumor resections in the maxillofacial area, including lymphatic outflow tract (neck dissection), as well as elimination of defects by means of flap surgery, local and pedicle flaps. The treatment of cancer patients is based on an interdisciplinary approach.
In addition to the full range of dentoalveolar surgery with so-called small interventions, which are mostly outpatient (e.g. wisdom tooth extraction, removal of chronic inflammations in the apex of the tooth roots and exposure of teeth), the department also offers dental implantology, craniofacial surgery, laser surgery, etc.
Plastic reconstructive surgery is another priority of the department. The team of doctors performs all operations in the field of plastic reconstructive and aesthetic facial surgery, including microvascular interventions. These include comprehensive rehabilitation with dental implants and ecto prostheses, including augmentative interventions.
The range of medical services of the department includes:
