The Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden deals with the treatment of all diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as the muscles. The most important clinical pictures in the field of neurology are circulatory disorders of the brain (strokes), multiple sclerosis, the so-called neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease and cerebellar disease. The chief physician of the Department is Prof. Dr. med. Heinz Reichmann. 

According to the Focus magazine rating of 2017, the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden ranks among the top German departments specializing in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease!

Moreover, the Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Heinz Reichmann provides medical care in case of headache, dizziness, as well as memory and concentration disorders. The Department is especially focused on the treatment of epilepsy, including epilepsy surgery. To treat Parkinson’s disease, the Department offers    the comprehensive treatment that involves the use of the cutting-edge drugs, pumps and deep brain stimulation. The Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden treats seriously ill patients with cerebral hemorrhages, meningitis and other serious brain diseases.
