The Department of Gastroenterology, Infectology and Rheumatology at the University Hospital Charite offers an effective treatment in the corresponding areas. Located at the Campus Benjamin Franklin, the department is headed by Prof. Dr. Britta Siegmund.

The department is mainly focused on chronic inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and joints, chronic diseases of the bowel and gastrointestinal tract. The treatment is offered for the patients with infectious diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis, meningitis, endocarditis, gastroenteritis and sexually transmitted diseases), tropical diseases (malaria, schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis), as well as for immunocompromised patients (due to autoimmune diseases, oncological diseases and HIV).

The department offers both treatment and diagnosis of a wide range of rheumatic disorders. In addition, the department provides medical care to the patients suffering from typical syndromes, such as joint swelling, backache and complex rheumatic diseases.
