The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Peter Albers, who is an expert in major operations for tumors, including particularly complex ones, as well as a recognized researcher in urological oncology. The doctor has been treating urologic diseases for over 30 years and today has high credibility in professional circles. Thanks to his fruitful work as the Head Physician, scientific activity flourishes in the department, which is the basis for implementing innovative and most sparing treatment methods into clinical practice. Prof. Albers has authored over 270 scientific publications and is an active member of the Working Group on Urological Oncology (AUO) of the German Cancer Society (DKG).The priority focus of the department is the treatment of prostate cancer (certification of the German Cancer Society). Also, the department's doctors have exceptional experience in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, tumors of the bladder, kidneys, and testicles. If necessary, the surgical treatment is performed using minimally invasive, robotic interventions, and also laser technologies are widely used.
The specially trained team of doctors treats urological pathologies in children. The extensive consultations on all problems of the urological range are provided for young patients and their parents. The most common pathologies in this field are phimosis, cryptorchidism, varicocele, hypospadias, and epispadias, urinary incontinence.
