About the department

The Department of General Pediatrics, Neonatology and Pediatric Cardiology at the University Hospital Duesseldorf offers the full range of services in these fields. The department admits children of different age groups and adolescents under the age of 18 years. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med.
Ertan Mayatepek.

The priority areas of specialization include metabolic disorders, neurological diseases in children, gastroenterology, infectology, pulmonology, cardiology and neonatology. The department also has excellent qualifications to provide first-class medical care for children with diabetes, mellitus, hormonal and allergic diseases.

The department has an ultramodern intensive care unit. It provides care for newborns and premature babies, as well as children with acute, life-threatening clinical conditions. Also, the department operates a specialized Neonatal Unit for newborns and premature babies, which works in close cooperation with the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
