The Department of Oral, Maxillary and Plasitic Facial Surgery is one of Germany’s oldest clinics in this specific discipline and consequently has a reputation which is already firmly established beyond the region’s boundaries. The range of surgical work performed by the Düsseldorf surgeons encompasses the entire range of oral, maxillary, mandibular and facial surgery, including injuries resulting from accidents in the maxillofacial area, malpositions in the mandibular and maxillary area (dysgnathiae), tumours in the oral cavity and outer facial skin, cleft lip face palates and other congenital deformities. The Clinic’s field of activities also includes the provision of dental implants and the field of aesthetic surgery.

As a clinic within a hospital providing maximum care, the Clinic’s staff particularly focus on plastic and reconstruction surgery. Such operations prove necessary for example following tumour operations or accidents in order to reconstruct patients’ facial features or restore or re-improve their eating and speech functions. Similarly, the restoration of patients’ masticatory function – in difficult situations too – by means of dental implants is one of the Clinic’s tasks. Another area involves cosmetic facial surgery, including, for example, eyelid plastics and the removal of wrinkles by means of face-lifting or subcutaneous injections.

About hospital

Düsseldorf University Hospital is a maximum-care hospital, and as such, at Düsseldorf University, or UKD, are a byword for international top-quality service in all areas of medical care. One particular strongpoint is the integration of clinical service and research – a necessity when it comes to patient care with the best possible standards that medical science has to offer. The close integration between patient care, research and medical training in one place presents decisive advantages for our patients – you will not only benefit from modern, high-performance equipment in the individual clinics and speciality departments, but also from the latest results from medical research, right from the source.

Apart from that, our many individual clinics work together in a close network, giving you the benefit of a united source of knowledge and experience from all medical disciplines. This is how we lay the groundwork for effective treatment in the future to benefit patients with diseases that cannot currently be cured, at best relieved. We work closely with partner universities based inside and outside Germany, helping us gain new knowledge and improve our understanding of diseases, leading to new, innovative methods in diagnostics and therapy.
