The Department of Adult and Pediatric Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf offers the full range of highly accurate diagnostics and modern treatment of ophthalmic diseases in patients of all age groups. The competence of the department's doctors also covers emergency care for patients with eye pathologies and injuries. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Martin Spitzer.

The department has 65 beds for inpatient treatment. The advanced technical equipment, modern infrastructure and high professionalism of doctors contribute to the fact that the department has a reputation as one of the leading German departments in the field of its specialization.

The department annually performs more than 7,000 surgical interventions, including 100 corneal transplantations.
