The Department of Oral, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital Jena under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Schultze-Mosgau offers the whole range of highly qualified diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for all diseases in this medical field. These include primary and secondary medical care for complex injuries of hard and/or soft tissues, including surgical restoration of the temporomandibular joint, all cancer surgery, including microsurgical functional reconstructions, treatment of cleft lip and palate, craniofacial deformities, orthodontic and maxillofacial surgery.
If necessary, the interdisciplinary boards are held within the University Hospital Jena in cooperation with the specialists from other medical fields in order to provide counseling and treatment planning.
The department uses a quality management system and was certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008.
The main focuses of the department include:
- Skull injuries: reconstruction of hard and soft tissues, including restoration of the temporomandibular joint
- Head and neck tumors: resection and plastic reconstruction by means of microsurgical transplantation of bone, skin and connective tissue
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery: cleft lip and palate; craniofacial malformations; orthodontic surgery/dysgnathia
- Preprosthetic surgery/implantology
