  • Prof. Malek studierte zwischen 1989 und 1996 Medizin an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover, wo er bei Prof. Alfred Nordheim promovierte.
  • Nach Eintritt in die Klinik für Gastroenterologie, Hepatologie und Endokrinologie unter der Leitung von Prof. Michael P. Manns, wurde er zum Internisten und Gastroenterologen ausgebildet.
  • Gefördert von der DFG absolvierte er zwischen 1998 und 2001 einen dreijährigen Forschungsaufenthalt am Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, USA wo er seine Forschungsarbeiten zur molekularen Kontrolle der Zellteilung began.
  • Nach Rückkehr an die Medizinische Hochschule in Hannover wurde seine wissenschaftliche Arbeit am Institut für Molekularbiologie der MHH unter der Leitung von Prof. Achim Gossler von 2002-2007 durch das Max-Eder-Programm der Krebshilfe gefördert.
  • 2008 wurde er im Rahmen des Exzellenzclusters REBIRTH der DFG auf eine W2 Professur berufen.
  • Prof. Malek ist seit 2011 Ärztlicher Direktor der Medizinischen Klinik 1 am Universitätsklinikum Tübingen.
  • Schwerpunkt seiner klinischen Tätigkeit ist die Behandlung von malignen Erkrankungen des Gastrointestinaltraktes und der Leber, sowie die Therapie von Patienten mit chronischen Lebererkrankungen.
  • Wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkt ist die Entschlüsselung von Mechanismen der Zellteilung mit dem Ziel neue Substanzen zur Behandlung von Tumorerkrankungen zu identifizieren.
  • Prof. Malek wurde 2008 mit dem Wissenschaftspreis der AIO und 2009 mit dem Johann-Georg-Zimmermann Preis für Krebsforschung ausgezeichnet.

The Department of Internal Medicine is divided into 5 sections.

The main diagnostic and therapeutic focus of the Department of Internal Medicine I includes gastroenterology, hepatology, transplantation medicine and treatment of infectious diseases. It also provides inpatients and outpatients with treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases, liver diseases and pancreas diseases.

The main diagnostic and therapeutic focus of the Department of Internal Medicine II includes oncology, hematology, immunology, rheumatology and pulmonology.

The main focus of the Department of Internal Medicine III includes treatment of heart disease, circulatory problems in the coronary arteries and cardiac arrhythmia, interventional valve replacement, acute treatment of myocardial infarction and arrhythmias, and non-invasive imaging diagnose of heart disease. The Department of Internal Medicine III is “often recommended” according to the Focus List of Specialist Clinics for Cardiology 2016.

The main focus of the Department of Internal Medicine IV includes endocrinology, diabetes, nephrology and angiology. The Department of Internal Medicine IV is “above average often recommended” according to the Focus List of Specialist Clinics for Diabetes 2016.

The Division VI specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of psychosomatic and somaticpsychologic disorders including medical and psychologic diagnosis, differential indications for outpatient, inpatient or partial inpatient treatment and in context of outpatient, consulting and liaison services.

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
