Für Prof. Matthias Goebeler ist die Berufung zum Direktor der Klinik für Dermatologie, Venerologie und Allergologie des Universitätsklinikums Würzburg (UKW) eine Rückkehr zu einer langjährigen Ausbildungs- und Wirkungsstätte: Zwischen den Jahren 1993 und 1998 absolvierte er hier seine Facharztausbildung, an die sich bis zum Jahr 2004 eine Oberarztstelle anschloss. Seine „Lehrherrin“ und „Chefin“ war damals Prof. Eva-Bettina Bröcker, die er Anfang Oktober 2011 in der Leitung der Uni-Hautklinik ablöste.

Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology

The Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology at the University Hospital of Würzburg is one of the largest Departments of Dermatology in Germany with a rich tradition. The Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Goebeler offers the entire spectrum of conservative and surgical dermatology. A particular attention is given to the treatment of malignant skin tumors, as well as diagnosis and treatment of allergic and autoimmune skin diseases. 

The University Hospital of Würzburg has a number of specialized outpatient clinics, which provide counseling for patients with psoriasis, neurodermatitis and hyperhidrosis, skin melanoma and lymphoma, venous foot ulcer and diseases of the external anal and genital area.  

The University Hospital of Würzburg is engaged into an active research activity. The Department of Dermatology under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Goebeler participates in national and international research associations. A clinical research group at the University Hospital of Würzburg specializes in oncological biology and works at the implementation of theoretic research results into the clinical practice.
