About the department
The doctors of the Department of Infectology, Gastroenterology, Oncology at the Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria Hospital specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and nonoperative treatment of diseases of the upper and lower digestive tract, as well as treatment of adjacent organs - liver, bile and pancreas. One of the priorities of the department is treatment of benign and malignant changes in the stomach and intestines. The infectious subdivision treats patients with severe infectious diseases - such as tuberculosis, HIV and AIDS and tropical diseases. The head of the department is Priv.-Doz. Dr. Keikawus Arastéh.
For treatment of diseases of the digestive tract the department offers a wide range of innovative concepts which employ modern medical technologies and devices. In particular, treatment of the biliary tract, gallbladder and duct can be performed endoscopically by means of retrograde cholangiopancreaticography (RCPP). This method allows doctors to diagnose local stenosis, inflammation and cancer. Also, such micro interventions as removal of gallstones in the biliary tract are carried out in the most sparing manner.
Main features and advantages of the department are:
- Diagnosis / treatment of the biliary tract, gallbladder and pancreas
- Stent implantation
- Nutritional Probes
- Treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas
- Combined diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
