When visiting Baden-Baden, the two main thermal baths of the town are a must. These are the Caracalla Spa and the Friedrichsbad Spa. The Caracalla Spa is a two-story complex with a large outdoor bathing area located in a natural park with a total area of 3,000 m3. The complex has many pools, jacuzzis, waterfalls, and saunas. All pools have different water temperatures and mineral concentrations. The Friedrichsbad Spa was built in 1867-1877 on the site of Roman baths and named after Duke Friedrich. These are Roman-Irish baths, combining Roman and Irish bathing traditions according to the method of the Irish doctor Barter. There are unique pools lined with Carrara marble and a circular hall, built on the model of a Roman thermal bath, with unique sculptures and frescoes.
The Lichtentaler Allee, located along the Oos River, is also a favorite place for visitors to Baden-Baden. Walking along the alley you can admire hundreds of different trees and flowers, beautiful fountains, sculptures, gazebos, and bridges. Not far away is the Pump Room, built in the middle of the 19th century. The historical monument is a colonnade of 16 columns, about 90 meters long, painted with frescoes. In the Pump Room there is a gallery with mineral water from two precious springs of Baden-Baden, which is credited with unique healing properties.
