Location
Bad Camberg is a picturesque spa town in the state of Hesse. It is a lively town with a thousand-year history, which fascinates with its beauty and uniqueness. Here people can improve their health in the thermal springs, take walks along the numerous forest routes or simply walk in the central part of the town, which houses beautiful half-timbered houses with interesting and bright external decor. Most of these houses were built in the 15th and 18th centuries.
The main attraction of the town is the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The construction of the chapel dates back to 1725. Due to its elevated location, the chapel can be seen from different parts of the town. One should definitely see Amthof – the largest timber frame structure in Hesse, which is 155 meters long. The structure was built in 1605, and in 1989 it was completely restored. Amthof used to be the residence of high-ranking officials, and today it is the seat of the town government. Amthof is adjacent to the Obertortrum Gate Tower and the Hohenfeld Chapel. The town also has several beautiful temples and a huge park with lots of beautiful plants and flowers, a mini golf course and several tennis courts.
