About the department
The Department of Adult and Pediatric Dermatology at the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa offers comprehensive services for the diagnostics and treatment of skin diseases, including vitiligo, dermatitis and malignant skin tumors, in patients of all age groups. The department has a reputation as one of the innovative medical facilities of this kind in Israel. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Reuven Bergman.
The department uses such modern diagnostic techniques for skin lesions as molecular, histological and immunohistochemical examinations, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. The department also carries out various types of phototherapy (for example, targeted phototherapy, NB-UVB, BB-UVB therapy, systemic and local PUVA therapy), allergy skin tests for contact dermatitis, computer monitoring and dermatoscopy of moles, including the early diagnostics and treatment of melanoma.
It is worth noting that the team of the department's doctors takes part in the number of research projects. In particular, these are projects devoted to the histological and molecular specificities of hereditary skin diseases, the effect and side effects of new drugs, as well as the examination of skin lymphomas and pseudolymphomas.

Curriculum vitae
Prof. Reuven Bergman is the Chief Physician of the Department of Adult and Pediatric Dermatology at the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa, and the Professor at the Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). His main subspecialty is dermatopathology.
Prof. Bergman was trained as a fellow by Prof. Bernard Ackerman at New York University in 1986 - 1987. He also had sabbaticals at the Mayo Clinic on the pathology of cutaneous lymphomas, at the University of Sydney (Australia) on early detection of melanoma, and at St. John's Institute for Diseases of the Skin (London) on genetic skin diseases.
He has authored 230 scientific papers in international journals and currently is a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Dermatology, American Journal of Dermatopathology and JAMA Dermatology.
Additionally, he was the President of the Israel Society of Dermatology and Venereology (until January 2017), and was previously the Chairman of the Israel Examination Boards for specialist certification in Dermatology.
Prof. Bergman’s current research interests include dermatopathology of genetic skin diseases in relation to molecular genetics, and dermatopathology of cutaneous lymphomas and pseudolymphomas. He also has a special clinical interest in early detection of melanoma, autoimmune bullous diseases (pemphigus and pemphigoid) pediatric dermatology, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, mycosis fungoides and genetic skin diseases. He runs a Research Laboratory on Molecular Dermatology within the Department of Dermatology and a Dermatopathology Service within the Department of Pathology.
Prof. Bergman has been appointed as an Honorary Member of the German Society of Dermatology (2015) and of the French Society of Dermatology (2016).

The Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa is the largest and the most progressive hospital in Northern Israel. The patients of the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa live in comfortable rooms designed in light colors. The standard room includes an automatically adjustable bed, a bedside table, a wardrobe for storing clothes, an armchair and chairs for receiving visitors, a TV, a telephone. Each room is equipped with an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet.
Meals and Menus
The patients of the hospital are offered tasty and balanced three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu also includes dietary and vegetarian dishes.
