About the department
The Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa provides the highly accurate diagnostics and modern treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in children, including inflammatory diseases of all gastrointestinal organs (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), congenital and acquired liver diseases and hyperlipidemia. The department has earned the status of one of the leading in the field of its competence in Israel. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Ron Shaoul.
In collaboration with the Blood Bank, the department carries out plasmapheresis procedures in children with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, liver and pancreatic diseases. The department's doctors have extensive and successful experience in the use of diet therapy in children with growth disorders, short bowel syndrome, eating disorders, chronic diarrhea, as well as diet therapy in children with special needs.

Curriculum vitae
Prof. Ron Shaul is the Chief Physician of the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa, which is one of the largest of its kind in Israel. He has directed the department since 2009.
Prof. Shaoul is a graduate of the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). He completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Bnai Zion Medical Center and a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
Prof. Shaoul is a Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine. He is also actively participating in a wide range of clinical and basic research projects and initiatives. His main research interests include probiotics and prebiotics, different aspects of pediatric inflammatory diseases and pediatric endoscopy.
As a member of the European Working Group on Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Prof. Shaoul has also authored about 120 peer-reviewed articles and is a reviewer for prestigious journals in the field of pediatrics and gastroenterology.

The Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa is the largest and the most progressive hospital in Northern Israel. The patients of the Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa live in comfortable rooms designed in light colors. The standard room includes an automatically adjustable bed, a bedside table, a wardrobe for storing clothes, an armchair and chairs for receiving visitors, a TV, a telephone. Each room is equipped with an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet.
Meals and Menus
The patients of the hospital are offered tasty and balanced three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu also includes dietary and vegetarian dishes.
