The Department of Internal Medicine I at the University Hospital Bonn offers diagnosis and treatment of all internal diseases. The priority treatment areas include: diseases of liver, biliary tracts, stomach and intestines, malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, kidney diseases, infectious diseases, hormonal and metabolic disorders, transplant surgery (of kidneys, pancreas and liver). Focus on gastroenterology and hepatology:
Conservative and endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver and biliary system. Gastroenterological functional diagnosis as well as diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension. Treatment of inflammatory liver diseases, including Hepatitis B and C etc.
Focus on nephrology:
Diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases, renal hypertension, renal osteopathy and disorders of water-electrolyte metabolism and acid-base balance etc.
Focus on endocrinology and diabetology:
Diagnosis and treatment of hormonal and metabolic diseases, treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes, diabetic foot syndrome.
Focus on immunology and infectology:
