The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital Dusseldorf is to support women during pregnancy and the perinatal period. The head of the Department is Univ.- Prof. Dr. med. Tanja Fehm. The Department focuses on monitoring of the pregnant women in a high risk group. Within the perinatal period the Department provides all modern procedures for prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy. The Department maintains a close cooperation with the allied healthcare disciplines, for example, human genetics, pediatric cardiology, pediatric urology and pediatric surgery. 

The Breast Center at the University Hospital Dusseldorf offers a thorough examination and treatment of all breast diseases by competent specialists. There are provided detailed consultations on benign and malignant diseases as well as cosmetic surgery of breast. 

Another priority focus is an Interdisciplinary, Gynecological and Cancer Center certified by the German Cancer Society, which offers a complex range of treatment for all gynecological tumors. In 2013 the Cancer Center at the University Hospital Dusseldorf was distinguished as the Comprehensive Cancer Center. There are regularly provided interdisciplinnary oncological councils. 

The surgical range of the Gynecological Cancer Center covers all gynecological operations, which are mostly performed by minimally invasive methods and with the preservation of the reproductive function. You are also offered innovative diagnostic and therapeutic methods, as, for example, PET-CT, hyperthermia, electrochemotherapy and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. 

The range of clinical services of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University Hospital Dusseldorf, headed by  Univ.- Prof. Dr. med. Tanja Fehm:

  • Pathologies, abnormal development of female genital organs: vaginal atresia, aplasia/ Rokytanski-Kuster syndrome, vaginal, intrauterine septa
  • Neovagina 
  • Consequences of treatment after cancers of the genital organs, including those with the transplant of the patient’s tissues 
  • Treatment of congenital breast pathologies: tubelar breast, Poland syndrome, amastia 
  • Counseling and surgical treatment of disorders after macromastia, gigantomastia and micromastia 
  • Reconstruction after mastectomy or correction of the unsatisfactory results after breast preserving surgery, transplantation of patient’s own tissues, lipofilling
