According to the Focus magazine 2017, the Department of Urology at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich ranked among the top German departments specializing in prostate cancer treatment!

The department offers the full range of services in the field of diagnosis and treatment of all urological diseases. It provides an effective therapy for pathologies of the kidneys, urinary tract, bladder, prostate, testes and their appendages, vas deferens and penis. The high quality of medical care is confirmed by many prestigious certificates, for example, the DEKRA certificate and the certificate of the European Board of Urology. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med.
Jürgen E. Gschwend.

One of the department’s clinical priorities is the treatment of urologic cancers. A unique experience of the specialists working in the department allows for successful treatment of prostate cancer, bladder cancer, testicular tumors, kidney and adrenal cancer, penile cancer. Of particular interest is also the treatment of kidney stone diseases and minimally invasive treatment of urologic pathology. To provide comprehensive treatment, the department closely cooperates with the Departments of Oncology, Radiation Therapy, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pediatrics and Endocrinology.

It should be noted that the department has its own modern operating rooms, a roentgenology unit, as well as two stations with 57 beds. As one of the best urologic institutions in Germany and the leading urology clinic in Munich, since 2009 the department offers patients robotic surgery (daVinci robot), which has many advantages for both patients and doctors: minimal pain, speedy recovery, the highest level of accuracy compared with conventional interventions.
