Istanbul is the largest and the most beautiful city in Turkey, which fascinates at first sight. The metropolis spreads out on the hilly shores of the Bosphorus, which divides it into European and Asian parts. Istanbul is the industrial, commercial and cultural center of the country. Many interesting and unique sights have preserved to this day, so one can immerse into the atmosphere of the Ottoman and Byzantine empires exploring them. Despite the centuries-old and rich history, the city also has many modern embankments, parks, museums, visiting which will bring a lot of pleasure.

As a rule, the first place where tourists go is the famous Sultanahmet Square. This square on the shores of the Sea of Marmara houses the Blue Mosque, which is the most important religious monument of the city. The mosque was built in 1609-1616 and is now considered one of the symbols of Istanbul. The building with a large dome is made in a mixed style, which combines the elements of Islamic and Byzantine architecture. Of particular interest is the fact that this is the only mosque in Istanbul with six minarets.

Another architectural masterpiece, the Hagia Sophia, is located directly opposite the mosque. This is a famous architectural monument of the Byzantine era and a symbol of its heyday. The temple was built in 537 as an Orthodox church and later became a mosque. The dome of the shrine is 31 meters high and 55.6 meters in diameter. In the corners, it is supported by columns with the height of 24.3 meters. The entire cathedral stands on a set of columns, their number is more than a hundred. The cathedral has 9 gates. The inner walls of the Hagia Sophia are covered with marble and magnificent mosaics. The mosaics combine gold, silver, glass and stone elements.

The Topkapi Palace offers the luxury of life of 25 Ottoman sultans. The palace complex occupies one of the seven city hills and has an area of almost 700 thousand square meters. The palace includes the relics of two religions: the letter of the Prophet Muhammad, his hair and arrows, a part of the skull and the hand of John the Baptist. The luxurious harem and the Sultan's library are also particularly interesting. No less exciting will be an excursion to another luxurious palace in Istanbul – Dolmabahçe. Its walls keep porcelains, paintings, photographs, books. The main feature of the premises is the Crystal Staircase. The Bohemian glass chandelier with a weight of about 5 tons is also remarkable.

One can admire the beauty of Istanbul from a bird's eye view on the observation deck of the Galata Tower, which is the highest building in the city. In addition, one can find a cozy restaurant and cafe on the upper floors of the tower.

The metropolis is also ideal for shopping tours, as it has the whole districts with various shopping pavilions and stores of famous Turkish and world brands. Here one can buy everything – from clothes, leather and fur products, home textiles to souvenirs, gold jewelry and ceramics.
