The Gamma Knife Center Hannover is the first Associated Clinic for Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery in Germany. The Gamma Knife can be used to remove benign and malignant tumors in the head with a single irradiation, which should not be bigger than 2. 5 to 3 cm in size.
Since November 2009, the Gamma Knife Krefeld Centre has been equipped with Gamma Knife Perfexion ™ - the world's most advanced radiosurgical device for the treatment of tumors and vascular malformations in the head.
The Department of Neurosurgery can treat neurological, neuropediatric and orbital diseases or relieve the illness through operations. Such diseases include cerebral hemorrhage, brain tumors, orbital tumors, tumors and malformations of children, herniated discs, spinal canal stenosis and spinal cord tumors.
Modern clinic of neurosurgery offers a full range of medical services, making the focus on neuro-oncology, skull base surgery, vascular neurosurgery and functional neurosurgery, as well as surgical treatment of epilepsy, deep brain stimulation, multi-modal navigation, intraoperative imaging and endoscopy.
The clinic treats 1,500 inpatient and 6,000 outpatients a year and has a modern emergency department, equipped with the latest cars and helicopters. The range of services includes emergency surgery and assistance in emergency situations, such as brain hemorrhage.
