Dermatology: Neurodermatitis — Diagnosis and conservative treatment. Treatment
Neurodermatitis (or atopic dermatitis) is an inflammatory disease of the skin characterized by long and persistent course. The main factor of the pathology development are hereditary and allergic. As a rule, neurodermatitis onset is observed in childhood, although there are cases of initial symptom occurrence in adults. The treatment of patients is preceded by a detailed examination.
The diagnosis is based on a particular clinical picture and anamnestic information. The patient shall pass the following tests:
- general clinical and laboratory tests (blood count and urinalysis)
- IgE assay,
- allergy study of blood serum,
- bacteriological examination of the affected skin and smear from the nose,
- enzyme immunoassay,
- bacteriological examination of intestinal microflora.
Based on examination and test findings, the dermatologist reveals the cause and stage of the disease.
Treatment is primarily aimed at eliminating the symptoms of disease. The therapeutic strategy is developed individually, taking into account the patient's age and peculiarities of his/her condition. After removal of acute disease manifestations, the patient is recommended a set of preventive measures.Hide
