Location

Goettingen is a university city located in the south of the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. The city is known for having one of the best universities in the country, which was founded in 1734 and is the oldest in this federal state. Goettingen is also home to numerous research institutes, including the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, the German Aerospace Center, and the European Neuroscience Institute. The very heart of the city of Goettingen is its historic center with beautiful half-timbered houses and narrow streets preserved from the Middle Ages.
