Location
Duesseldorf is a city in Germany that has won fame as one of the largest economic and cultural centers in the country. The history of the city spans almost 900 years, so even the most sophisticated tourist will find something to their liking. Due to its unique beauty and rich cultural heritage, Duesseldorf is sometimes called little Paris. The world-famous German writer Goethe repeatedly praised the city in his books. Guests of the city will find not only medieval architecture, interesting museums and exhibitions with artistic masterpieces, but also many bars and small breweries, since the city is famous for its long tradition of brewing.
The historic center of Duesseldorf was almost completely destroyed during World War II. The old city and its sights have been carefully restored according to historical documents. Now it is one of the centers of busy city life. Once here, everyone will be imbued with German flavor and traditions. All buildings are made in the true German architectural style. One of the places that you should definitely visit is the Market Square. Previously, famous fairs were held here, but now it is a quiet and peaceful place where the City Hall, the administrative complex of the city, and the monument to Johann Wilhelm are located.
The most noteworthy of the religious monuments is St. Lambert's Basilica, the oldest religious building in Duesseldorf and one of the symbols of the old city, built of bricks in the Gothic style. In addition, one of the most beautiful and popular places in Duesseldorf is the Rhine embankment promenade. Among the sights of the city, it is also worth noting the KÖ Art Gallery, the house where Heinrich Heine was born, and the 234-meter-high Rheinturm TV Tower. At a height of 172 meters, there is a revolving restaurant and an observation deck. Tourists also like to visit Benrath, a palace and a park complex built as a hunting castle and the summer residence for Karl Theodor. The main palace introduces visitors to life at court in the second half of the 18th century.
