diagnostic: Sickle cell anemia. Diagnostic abroad
Sickle cell disease is a kind of hereditary anemia characterized by changes in the shape of red blood cells due to the hemoglobin pathology. In Russia, this disease is rare, but it is quite common to the African population; about 40% of them are carriers of the gene of sickle cell anemia. This disease is incurable, but the careful observance of recommendations and treatment according to advanced protocols can improve the quality of life and prolong the same for several decades.
After the first visit to the clinic and collection of the patient's case history, the expert prescribes a set of tests, namely
- general clinical examination, including the complete blood count, urinalysis and blood chemistry;
- cytogenetic analysis;
- abdominal ultrasound;
- CT and MRI identify the thrombosis foci;
- aspiration biopsy of the bone marrow and ilium wing punch biopsy;
- hemoglobin electrophoregraphy.
