The Department of Adult and Pediatric Radiology, Nuclear Medicine offers the full range of highly specialized diagnostics of the cardiovascular system using radioisotopes and ionizing radiation. The department began its work on July 1, 1973, so it is proud of its rich experience and outstanding work results. The department was one of the first in which digital subtraction angiography was applied (in the 1980s). A distinctive feature of the department is high qualification in the field of radioisotope diagnostics of congenital heart defects in children. The department's specialists have advanced technical equipment for general cardiac diagnostics in adults and children, as well as all the necessary diagnostic procedures before, during and after surgical treatment.
Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defect Treatment
The Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defect Treatment offers the full range of diagnostics and conservative treatment of common cardiac pathologies and congenital heart defects in children and adults. The scope of tasks of the department’s specialists includes catheter interventional procedures (about 800 diagnostic and 300 therapeutic interventions are performed annually). With more than 30 years of successful clinical experience, the department holds leading position in its field of specialization not only in Germany, but also in Europe. During the entire treatment period, the department's cardiologists not only provide young patients with first-class medical care, but also surround them with sensitive care and try to establish the most confidential and friendly relations with them.

The Department of Cardiology offers the diagnostics and treatment of all diseases of the heart and circulatory system. The department specializes in the treatment of pathologies of the heart and great vessels, heart rhythm disorders and heart valve diseases, as well as heart failure and hypertension. The diagnostics and treatment involves the use of the very latest catheter technologies. The department is part of the German Heart Centre Munich and belongs to the largest Cardiology Centers in Germany and Europe.

The Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Congenital Heart Defect Surgery offers the full range of surgical treatment for congenital heart defects in newborns, young children and adults. Today, the department is proud of its 45 years of clinical experience in the field of its specialization and has a reputation as one of the leading medical facilities of this kind in Germany. The department's surgeons perform more than 600 interventions on the cardiovascular system annually. Each clinical case of a young patient is considered at the regular medical boards, during which the optimal treatment strategy is determined. In addition, the department is one of the few in Germany, which operates on the basis of its own chair at the university. Thus, it has access to the very latest research results and the best training of medical students.

The Department of Cardiac Surgery offers the full range of surgical treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The department is recognized as the leading medical facility specializing in the treatment of acquired heart diseases. The department's surgeons perform about 2,600 cardiac surgeries annually. All the operations are carried out in modern operating rooms, equipped with the advanced equipment and high-precision monitoring systems. Sparing minimally invasive techniques are widely used in clinical practice. Also, some operations are performed without the use of a heart-lung machine.
