Department of Pneumology and Brochial Medicine
The department of lung medicine (Pneumology) supervises more than 4,000 patients each year. The focuses of the treatment are placed upon the following clinical pictures: Chronic obstructive bronchitis, Lung emphysema, Bronchial asthma, Lung cancer, Lung fibrosis, Chronic persistent cough.
Department of Allergology
The Department of Allergology at Kloster Grafschaft specialist hospital has been in existence since 1982. Approx 3.000 patients are treated both as outpatients and inpatients each year. This department is one of the few clinics in Germany to cover the whole specialist field of Allergology. The diagnostic measures are stipulated by taking into account each individual case. However, a symptomatic therapy is often also necessary at first in order to relieve the complaints.
Department of Intensive Care and Weaning
Kloster Grafschaft hospital has an intensive care department with 14 beds. A special focus of the hospital is the supervision and so-called weaning of patients after long-term respiration.
Department of Early Rehabilitation after Long-term Ventilation
After the intensive-care acute treatment the patients will continue to be cared for in the department of early rehabilitation after long-term respiration. The early rehabilitation department has been in existence since March 2005 and offers 20 beds. The team of the department is composed of specialist doctors, specialist nurses, especially trained physio-, logo-, ergo- and wound therapists as well as a specialist in nursing transition.
Department of Sleep Medicine and Home Ventilation
Since 1987, the department has operated a sleep laboratory with currently more than 19 measurement places. The patients are supervised by the clinic’s employees day and night. The focus of interest is especially placed on diseases which disturb the sleep in many different ways.
