Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Mühlbauer trained at the University Clinics in Denver, Colorado, USA and at the Hospital Rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich to gain experience and become a specialist in general surgery. He specialized in Plastic Surgery under the direction of Prof. Dr. U.Schmidt-Tintemann and was appointed Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the Technical University Munich. Since 1984 until 2003 he served as Head of the Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery, Burn Center of Bogenhausen Hospital in Munich. Since 2003 he works in private practice. He is considered one of the most prominent plastic surgeons of Germany and Europe with outstanding international reputation. In 2005, the doctor was awarded with the "Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande" by Horst Köhler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, for his extraordinary achievements.
