As the Academic Teaching Hospital of the University of Cologne, the Hospital Cologne-Holweide offers a wide range of medical services. With eight specialized departments, the Hospital Cologne-Holweide is an important health care center for patients with various diseases from both Cologne and other regions. The Hospital Holweide annually treats 21,000 inpatients. In addition to inpatient medical care, about 37,000 patients receive outpatient, pre-inpatient and post-inpatient treatment.
The Academic Hospital Cologne-Holweide is especially focused on the treatment of cancer patients. Cancer treatment involves interdisciplinary groups of specialists and is provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis. There is offered an extensive support program for both patients and their relatives. Many people know the Academic Hospital Cologne-Holweide for its large maternity hospital: with about 2,000 deliveries per year, including premature babies and high-risk pregnancies, the clinic ranks among the largest maternity hospitals in the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
