Location

Geneva is a diverse and multifaceted city located in a picturesque place on the shores of Lake Geneva. Geneva is surrounded by mountains, which gives it the atmosphere of a resort city. In the urban areas there are baths, pools and beaches where one can engage in many water sports. One can also take a boat ride on the lake and go on a cruise along the Rhone River, which flows into the lake. Geneva enjoys the status of the world capital of the production of premium watches, and is also famous for the production of chocolate and jewelry.

The main attractions of the city are concentrated in the historical center of Geneva. The symbol and the most recognizable sight of the city is considered to be the Jet d'Eau Fountain. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that this natural fountain is located in Lake Geneva itself and beats with a powerful stream 147 meters high. The Jet d'Eau is especially beautiful in the evening, when the spotlights are turned on to illuminate it. The undoubted decoration of the city is the St. Peter's Cathedral. Its construction was started during the Romanesque Era in the 11th century and continued during the Gothic period, while in the 16th century it became one of the main temples of Protestantism. Not far from the cathedral is the Place du Bourg-de-Four, which once played the role of the market square and forum. Not far from here one can see the Palace of Nations dating back to 1938. Interestingly, if you cross the border of the palace, you can be on international territory. That’s exactly what about 100 thousand tourists do every year during excursions to the second UN headquarters.

Geneva also boasts a large number of interesting museums. Geneva has the world's only museum dedicated to the worldwide activities of the Red Cross. The International Red Cross Museum is divided into three large sections. The first of them talks about the importance of protecting human dignity, the second about the problem of restoring family ties, while the third about the need to mitigate the consequences of humanitarian and natural disasters. The Patek Philippe Watch Museum offers unique expositions that are located on four floors. The ground floor is occupied by a small cinema where guests can watch a film about the company, as well as get acquainted with various machines for the manufacture of watch products. Here one can watch a real watchmaker demonstrating his skills. On the second floor there is a gallery with a Patek Philippe watch products from the period 1839-1989. When rising above, one can get acquainted with watch machines, look at beautiful jewelry. The fourth floor is designed for the archives and library of the company with the portraits of its founders and awards won by them at various competitions.

Geneva offers its guests almost everything – from a large number of banks and places for shopping to a wide selection of spiritual, cultural and artistic impressions. In addition, the city has many parks, gardens and flowers, so all lovers of the beauty of nature will also find here a corner to their taste.
