        Prof. Dr. med. Attila Kovács is the Head Physician of the Department of Interventional Radiology, specializing in interventional oncology and minimally invasive procedures.

        Prof. Kovács has over 26 years of experience in minimally invasive therapy. He completed medical studies in Kiel and Heidelberg and earned his board certification in Diagnostic Radiology in 2005 – followed by specialization in Neuroradiology in 2009. In 2011, he received the CODMAN Prize from the German Society of Neuroradiology. After completing his Habilitation in 2012, he took his current position in the Department of Interventional Radiology.

        Prof. Kovács specializes in transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) – a precise technique that delivers chemotherapy directly to tumors. The department also offers radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for tumors in the liver, lungs, kidneys, and bones, as well as kyphoplasty for vertebral fractures and their prevention in cancer patients.

        Prof. Kovács is a Certified Instructor of the German Society of Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Treatment (DeGIR) in Interventional Radiology and a Certified Q3 Instructor in Cardiac MRI and CT. He conducts approximately 25-26 workshops annually and has permission for advanced training courses in Radiology from the Medical Association of North Rhine-Westphalia.

        He is also an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the German Society of Radiology (DRG), the German Society of Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Treatment (DeGIR), the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT), and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
