About the city

Gummersbasch is located in the geographical center of the Bergisches Land region, in the Rheinish Slate Mountains, southeast of North Rhine-Westphalia. The center of the city houses a fortified castle built by landvogt Pollmann, which is called a fortress (“Burg”) due to its construction type. It is located in the Kaiserstrasse street in the pedestrian area. The Kaiserstrasse and Hindenburgstrasse streets in front of the former bus station became a pedestrian zone just a few years ago. Bismarck Square, which regularly hosts a variety of activities, is located opposite the Town Hall. Every Tuesday and Thursday you can come to the market, which is open in the morning hours.
