Location

Located on the banks of the Elbe River, Dresden is the capital of the federal state of Saxony. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and Europe. The historical city center offers its visitors and residents outstanding architectural sights in the Baroque style, famous museums and art galleries, where unique works of art and world masterpieces are preserved. Dresden is often called the "Florence on the Elbe".

Looking back on more than 800 years of history, Dresden fascinates its visitors from the first acquaintance. Luxurious castles, baroque palaces, famous museums, parks and the Elbe embankment will impress even the most sophisticated traveler. This city has a unique charm, so having visited it at least once, everyone will certainly want to return back.

Among the main attractions of Dresden, it is worth noting the Frauenkirche – a beautiful Protestant Baroque church built in the 18th century, which is one of Dresden's symbols, the Opera House, which is one of the most iconic city buildings. Special attention should be given to the lavish palaces of Dresden, for example, the Zwinger Palace, which represents the masterpiece of the German late Baroque built at the beginning of the 18th century. Initially, this building was meant to be a greenhouse and a venue for commemorative events. As of today, it is one of the most famous exhibition halls in Germany. It hosts an art gallery, collection of porcelain, the Mathematics and Physics Museum. The impressive Dresden Castle built in the 15th century also enjoys a great popularity among tourists.

The Old Market (Altmarkt) has been the heart of the historic center of Dresden virtually from its foundation. It is a large rectangle square, where all the main city events have been held for a long time, including fairs, tournaments and other festive occasions. Moreover, Dresden is a remarkably green city and fascinates its guests with picturesque natural landscapes.
