Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany located on the banks of the picturesque Elbe River. It is one of the richest cities in the country, as well as the largest port in Germany. In addition, Hamburg is the center for the development of banking, service and information technologies. The city has a huge number of consulates and representative offices of different countries.

Hamburg has managed to preserve its cultural traditions and beautiful green landscapes. The city houses more than a hundred parks, whereas some of them are devoted to specialized topics. The center of Hamburg does not have any historical buildings. It is a business quarter full of life during the working hours. Also, one can find fashionable shops and numerous museums. An important building in the city center is the Town Hall. It is not a historical monument, but one can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the lake and the city from the observation decks of the building.

One of the most beautiful and most picturesque places in Hamburg is the Alster Lake. The boat trips and cruises along the Alster canals, which take place throughout the city, will give a lot of pleasure and introduce tourists to Hamburg. Another unusual, but popular attraction of the city is the Fish Market in the Altona district. It should be noted that although it is called the Fish Market, it sell absolutely everything, including a huge number of fish varieties. This bright, noisy, crowded market emerged in 1703 and today remains a favorite place for both tourists and locals. Also, it houses a restaurant with live music where one can eat and enjoy the unique atmosphere.

Another important attraction of the city is the village of Blankenese. The village on the Elbe River impresses with beautiful villas, picturesque houses and old-style mansions. One can find here many cafes, cinemas, restaurants, shops and weekly markets offering fresh vegetables and fruits.
